About Me

My name is Ben Morales-Correa. I’m not an Egyptologist, and I won’t play one on the internet. But since I was a child, ancient Egypt has been a fascinating topic to me. I’m a painter, graphic designer and ancient Egypt enthusiast from Puerto Rico. I started developing at an early age my artistic skills through the teachings of my father, a master graphic artist, illustrator and printer.

In 1992, I established my atelier under the name Mythos, where I created and developed innovative techniques in the manufacturing of fine ancient Egyptian painting replicas. These works have been acquired by collectors, teachers and Egyptian art enthusiasts in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

During the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, I moved to San Francisco, California. There I pursued studies in fine arts and communications arts. At the same time, I worked in public mural art projects and graphic design studios.

In 1982, I was granted a summer scholarship by the San Francisco Academy of Arts, and was awarded First Prize in Photography by Archaeology Magazine of New York in 1996.

Egyptology enthusiast - someone who has not studied Egyptology at college level, but the subject is a passion that drives me to constantly learn more about and make it an essential part of my life and my vision.

Copywriter and Web Designer - I also put these abilities to work in projects of other people that really interest me and are of value to society.

INTERESTS:
Music - Classical, especially baroque, 18th Century, Mozart and Beethoven, early romanticists like Mendelssohn, Schubert and from them on Debussy and Ravel, Jan Sibelius and 20th Century Prokofiev and Bartok. I also like flamenco music, 60s rock and Caribbean music.

Favorite TV Shows - I like old TV shows like the 60s Fugitive and Monty Python. My favorite show presently is The Colbert Report.

Favorite Movies - Casablanca, The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Amadeus, Gandhi, The Shawshank Redemption, Charlie Chaplin films, etc.

Favorite Books - Sinuhe the Egyptian, The Divine Comedy, Don Quijote, Latin American novels, Egyptology and Art books.
